Chalet Gueret is one of the finest homes in the Alps. Superlative comfort, location, service and skiing will ensure that you experience an entirely different winter holiday. In an era of package holidays, we offer you a rare chance to taste an Alpine tradition which has virtually disappeared ... the true chalet party.
The Gueret experience is an authentic reminder of an age when to stay in a ski lodge was to exchange the ‘daily grind’ with exceptional comfort and indulgence. The chalet offers a world where a walk in the woods, a morning’s sledging or a quiet drink in front of a log fire, blend easily with a day on the ski slopes. Yet if you hanker for the bars, night life and excitement of a busy resort, they are only a few minutes drive away.
Chalet Gueret is based on an old farmhouse which was built before the French Revolution and had stood for more than 200 years. Five years ago it was rebuilt to offer truly luxurious accommodation while retaining the charm of the original building with a wealth of exposed beams and ancient timbers. |
Accommodation: | The first floor features a spacious lounge/dining area for 14, with sofas and armchairs and a hi-fi system. There is an open fireplace and a balcony with stunning views over the valley to the mountains beyond.
Off the main room is a library with a gallery and a separate intimate dining room for meetings, smaller parties and children's’ meals.
There are two double bedrooms on this floor, each with its own bathroom and separate shower cubicle. One has a balcony and the other opens onto a terrace.
Up the wide wooden staircase on the top floor are a further four bedrooms. There are two doubles and two twins which can convert to doubles. All have private bathrooms, two of which have showers. Two of the bedrooms have balconies and two lead onto a terrace.
On the ground floor, off the entrance hall, there is a fully equipped office with a computer, internet link, UK plug and modem adapters, fax, photocopier, telephone and safe. Also on this floor are the sauna with its own shower, the games room and the staff apartment. Down one more floor you have the ski room with drying facilities, a laundry room and the wine cellar.
For guests who like to soak away their aches and pains in style there is an outdoor hot-tub. There is parking for three cars and ample space around the chalet for sledging, building snowmen and other outdoor activities. |

Catering: | ::back to top | | From the moment your party arrives you will feel at home. Help yourself to a drink from the open bar, ask us to fix you a snack, or head for the sauna to ease away the stress of the journey. Your ski passes will be waiting for you, and ski and boot hire can be organised within the chalet.
Your day starts with a breakfast which includes a selection of fresh bread, croissants, cereals, fruit and yoghourts. On your return from the slopes afternoon tea with home-baked cakes and biscuits will be laid out for you. In the evening champagne and canapés by the open fire are followed by a generous and beautifully prepared four course dinner with a selection of wines and coffee. We ask you to dine out on one night of the week and we will be happy to book a table for you.
Superb personal service, fine food and a wine cellar to suit virtually every palate are part of the Gueret experience. Where possible we use local produce to create delicious well-presented meals, which provide the focus for a relaxed and enjoyable evening after a day on the slopes.
The menus can be altered to suit your particular tastes and we can cope with special diets provided we are given a bit of notice. |
